QUIZ QUESTION - WIN A T-SHIRT

Within the Reserve, at the bench in front of the pond and to the left, there is a conifer tree that is mostly bare.   It looks dead but it is not.    It drops its needles every year.    What is the name of this tree?

Please place your answer in the drop box to the left of the entry doors to the Borough office.    Be sure to include your name and phone number.    One name, from the correct answers received, will be randomly drawn and the winner will receive a Conservancy T-shirt.    The deadline to submit your answers is June 15, 2008.

If you are having any kind of tree problems.    Please call the Borough office to be placed on a continuing list that the Borough can track the areas of problems.

Spring rains and summer sun resulted in an explosion of great beauty in the Bradford Woods Reserve.  Tall coreopsis reached 8-9 feet tall, false sunflowers grew to 7 feet, and clumps of pink monardo were interspersed.   Many milkweed which are the mainstay of the monarch butterfly and its larvae bloomed in the "Butterfly Meadow".   Other native wildflowers continue to bloom into early Fall.

As meadows, field and vacant lots give way to lawns and concrete in the surrounding area, the various habitats of our Reserve with their wildflowers and shrubs provide needed food and nectar for insects, butterflies and wildlife!
