CONSTITUTION of the BRADFORD WOODS
COUPLES CLUB
Article I: Name & Purpose
The name of this club shall be the Bradford Woods Couples Club. The
purpose is to promote fellowship among married couples of the Borough and
to welcome new residents of the Borough to community life.
Article II: Membership
Membership shall be open to married couples of the Bradford Woods postal
area, who express an interest in the aims and purposes of the
organization.
Obligations of Membership:
1. Dues shall be $20.00 per couple, $10.00 per single, annually, payable
not later than the November meeting and for new members at the time of
application.
2. Every couple shall serve as host once a year
3. All members shall have the opportunity to sign-up for a committee until
the November meeting. After this time, any members who have failed to
sign-up will be assigned to a committee by the Couples’ Club officers
and will be expected to serve on that designated month. The final
committee list will be posted during the December meeting.
4. Food servings for 12 shall be required with attendance at each meeting.
Contributions shall be excused only with notice to the host committee on
or before the Thursday preceding the meeting.
5. All widows or widowers of past members will be honorary members for
life. Their only obligation is a food serving for 12.
Article III: Meetings
Meetings of the club shall be held on the first Saturday of each month,
September through May, at 7:00 PM. In the event of an important conflict,
the date of a monthly meeting can be changed at the discretion of, and by
the unanimous vote of the club officers.
Eight or more couples shall act as hosts at each meeting. Their duties
shall be to organize the supper, provide the entertainment for the
evening, and complete the records for the month in the dinner attendance
book, before returning it to the secretary.
In the event that unusual entertainment expenses, exclusive of any and all
supper expenses, are incurred, the club shall contribute 50% of such
expenses up to a maximum of $100.00
Article IV: Officers
The officers of the club shall be President, Vice-President, Secretary,
and Treasurer, with couples serving each office. The duties of these
officers shall be those ordinarily assigned to such officials.
The secretary shall be responsible for maintaining current and accurate
membership lists and shall notify the president and treasurer of any
additions or deletions in the membership roll.
Election of officers shall take place at the May meeting. A nominating
committee, appointed by the president at the April meeting, shall present
a slate for the club’s consideration, and these nominees, plus those
offered from the floor, shall be voted upon. Elections shall be by a
simple majority.
The newly-elected officials shall assume their positions at the September
meeting.
Article V: Amendments
This constitution can be amended by a two-thirds vote of the members
present at any meeting of the club. The amendments must be introduced at
the meeting prior to the meeting at which it is voted upon.
1. Club membership is open to single adults as well as to couples in the
Borough.
2. Club membership may be continued when a member moves from the Borough
as long as requirements for membership, excluding residency, are met
3. A Board of Directors, consisting of two-three past presidents, will
serve in an advisory capacity to newly elected officers.
